The TAFEWA Admissions Centre serves Australian citizens and permanent residents who wish to study full-time award courses in Western Australia.
It was established to provide a central point for receiving and processing applications for full-time VET award courses in Western Australia and to ensure that all applicants are selected solely on the basis of merit for entry to TAFEWA full-time award qualifications.
The Centre is not responsible for part-time admissions or for the re-enrolment of existing students.
The Centre is nationally recognised as the benchmark in TAFE student admission, and recently has been emulated by TAFE South Australia.
Key features of the TAFEWA Admissions system include:
- an admissions centre at a central location convenient to clients which provides an assessment service for all applications and offers throughout WA
- access by means of a single application to all full-time training in the TAFEWA network
- a merit-based selection principle
- published course entry selection criteria
- uniform, objective and transparent selection procedures
- coordination of application and offer dates with the university sector
- access for the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector to accurate, system-wide student demand data
- the provision of a sophisticated admissions system which is similar to that available for university applicants, thereby promoting participation in the VET sector.
