The most up to date information about movement between TAFEWA and university is available from individual colleges.

TAFEWA to University

A Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER) is not the only means of entry to university in Western Australia. TAFEWA can be your stepping stone to a university education. Many TAFEWA graduates gain admission to Australian universities each year.

What you need to know:
- As a TAFEWA graduate you need to apply through the Tertiary Institutions Services Centre (TISC) for admission to the public universities (tisc.edu.au) for the start of year intake or you can apply directly to the universities for the mid year intake. For Notre Dame University the application process is always direct apply directly.

- In order to be considered for a university place you will need to meet the minimum entry requirement. The minimum entry requirement is the minimum level of educational achievement you need to apply for a place at university.

- Achieving the minimum entry requirement does not guarantee you entry to a particular course or that you are competitive enough to be selected for a place at university.

- Entry to courses is very competitive and some university courses have subject prerequisites. Completing a diploma of advanced diploma may increase your chance of selection.

- Depending on what you have previously studied, some universities may give you credit for the work you have already done, meaning it will take you less time to complete your university qualification.  This is referred to as advanced standing or credit transfer.

- Once you have been accepted into a university course you will be able to discuss this possibility with the university.

You can download the complete Pathways to University pdf for more information on gaining entry to university courses from TAFE.
